As Spring is in the life of a gardener, so Lent should be in the life of a Christian. We all look forward to Spring, the new awakening, when sleeping nature reawakens. The birds greet each new day with a dawn chorus, the bare trees are clothed again and the baby lambs frolic in the fields. It is a time to be busy so that new life may emerge.
The mini mission is a wonderful way to get us started for Lent. The soil needs to be dug, the fallen debris needs to be cleared away and the new plants sown. This is not a time for procrastination, instead it is a time for transformation.
Spring, time to get going, to wake up, to break away from the screen, stop killing time and again take up our vocation of building God’s Kingdome in my little corner of the world, working for peace and justice and reaching out as Jesus did to the sick, the oppressed, the hungry, the lonely, and those who have no direction or purpose in life. Spring, a time of transformation.
